Anuradapura - Sri Lanka

After living most of my life in Sri Lanka, this is the first time I visited the historic city of Anuradapura on a holiday back from Melbourne in 2005. This was a family outing with my parents, brother and few friends.

Anuradapura is situated about 205 km north of the capital Colombo and is considered to be the firs kingdom of Sri Lanka now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city is dotted with many ancient ruins and temples, very sacred to Buddhists such as Sri Maha Bodhiya.

The 2 day visit did not provide me with enough time to capture some spectacular images of this wonderful historical city. I plan to visit again in a future holiday. For now enjoy these images of Anuradapura.
